Shocking details emerge as Rahul Meena faces charges for the Delhi IRS officer's daughter murder and a prior assault in Alwar, showing a trail of violence.
In a grim update to the high-profile Delhi IRS officer's daughter murder, investigators have revealed chilling details regarding the accused, Rahul Meena. Police state that the 23-year-old suspect had allegedly committed another sexual assault in Rajasthan’s Alwar just hours before targeting the victim in South Delhi.
The sequence of events leading to the tragedy began with Meena traveling to Delhi the morning after the alleged rape in Alwar. He entered the home of his former employer in Kailash Hills using a spare key. Investigators confirm he went directly to a rooftop study where the 22-year-old victim was present. Police allege that he attacked her, strangled her with a mobile phone charging cable, and assaulted her while she was unconscious. The suspect is accused of dragging her down the stairs to a room with a locker, attempting to open the biometric lock using her fingerprint, and eventually breaking it open to steal cash and jewelry. He changed his blood-stained clothes and fled shortly before the victim’s parents returned home.
The investigation has uncovered a disturbing history of behavior by the accused. Rahul Meena had worked as domestic help for the family for approximately eight months before being dismissed a month ago due to alleged financial misconduct. Authorities note that his father worked in the same office as the victim’s father, the IRS officer. It is believed that the elder Meena secured the job for his son, who earned Rs 20,000 per month.
Following his dismissal, Meena reportedly spent several weeks in his village in Alwar playing online card games and Ludo. During interrogation, police allege that Meena revealed he was a "pervert" who had spent his salary on prostitutes and harbored ill intentions toward the victim while employed by the family. He viewed his termination as a personal humiliation and may have planned the attack over several weeks. Police state that a money crisis triggered his plan for revenge.
Compounding the severity of the charges, authorities in Rajasthan have linked Meena to a separate Alwar rape case. Police allege that on Tuesday night, he entered the home of a woman known to him and assaulted her while her husband was away at a wedding. The survivor underwent a medical examination, and Alwar Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary confirmed that details are being shared with Delhi Police to fast-track the investigation. The victim also alleged that Meena threatened to kill her if she spoke about the incident.
During questioning, Meena displayed a stark lack of remorse. He changed his statements multiple times, initially offering vague explanations. However, in court before Judicial Magistrate Deepika Thakaran, his tone shifted. He told the magistrate, “Mujhse apradh ho gaya. Galti ho gayi (I committed a crime, a mistake),” when asked about his motive. When pressed, he admitted, “Paise ke liye kiya (I did it for money).” The magistrate responded critically, noting that while he was admitting to the offence, she was not treating it as a formal confession. He gave no explanation for the rape and murder, only citing financial need.
Forensic findings from the post-mortem examination in Delhi indicate multiple injuries on the victim, including abrasions and a nasal bone fracture. Doctors stated these findings were consistent with resistance and confirmed death by strangulation. Preserved swabs and nail scrapings have been sent for analysis to further ascertain the nature of the assault.
Police are currently reconstructing Meena’s movements from Alwar to Delhi and finally to a hotel in Dwarka, where he was arrested. Authorities are working to recover stolen items, including the victim’s phone, and establishing a complete timeline using CCTV footage. The case remains under intense scrutiny as prosecutors highlight the heinous nature of the crime and the suspect’s potential for further violence.
The revelations in the Delhi IRS officer's daughter murder case are set to intensify judicial scrutiny on domestic security and the vetting of household help. As investigations continue into the linked Alwar rape case, authorities anticipate stricter enforcement of biometric security in private residences. The case underscores the critical need for rigorous background checks for domestic employees, especially when familial connections to the employer exist. Future legal proceedings will likely focus on the adequacy of current hiring protocols and the psychological profiling of individuals with histories of financial misconduct. The outcome may drive policy changes regarding the management of domestic staff in high-profile households across India.
