PM Modi addresses a developing global fuel crisis amidst regional conflicts, urging national unity and highlighting domestic initiatives like the Gyan Bharatam Survey during his latest broadcast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday, cautioning that a severe petrol and diesel crisis is developing globally due to ongoing conflicts in key energy regions. Speaking during the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, the PM highlighted the impact of war on India's energy security while calling for national unity to navigate the difficult times.
During the broadcast, the Prime Minister noted that the month of March has been extremely eventful on a global level, recalling the global challenges faced during the pandemic. He observed that despite expectations of a fresh start post-pandemic, conditions of war and conflict continued to emerge in different regions. Specifically, he referred to the fierce war involving the US, Israel, and Iran, noting that it has been ongoing for a month in the neighborhood. This conflict impacts a major hub of energy needs, directly influencing fuel availability worldwide.
PM Modi acknowledged that relatives of lakhs of families reside in the affected countries, particularly working in the Gulf regions. He expressed gratitude to Gulf countries for assisting over 1 crore Indians there. Despite the challenges, the Prime Minister asserted that India is in a stronger position to deal with the situation. He attributed this strength to global relations, assistance from various countries, and capabilities built over the past decade. He urged countrymen to stay united, expressing confidence that the collective strength of the country's 140 crore citizens would enable them to overcome these circumstances successfully.
The Prime Minister also addressed political criticism, stating that those politicizing the issue should refrain, as it concerns the interests of all citizens. He warned against spreading rumors, emphasizing that the government is continuously providing information which the public should trust. Beyond the economic challenges, Modi spoke about the Gyan Bharatam Survey, an initiative aimed at collecting information about manuscripts across the country to preserve culture and heritage. He encouraged citizens to share pictures of manuscripts via the Gyan Bharatam app to aid this effort.
On the sports front, the PM celebrated India's historic T20 World Cup victory and noted the growing passion for sports in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that Gulmarg has gained recognition through the Khelo India Winter Games and that football is popular among the youth. He encouraged the continuation of this winning streak and noted the increasing popularity of sports among young people, including the Asmita Athletics League where women play a vital role.
Emphasizing health, PM Modi stressed the importance of fitness and reducing sugar and cooking oil intake to prevent obesity. He reminded citizens that less than 100 days remain for the International Day of Yoga. On the education front, he cited the Prayoga Institute of Education Research in Bengaluru for its Anveshana program, which allows students to innovate in science. He also highlighted the evolution of the Morung learning system among Naga tribes, which now instills interest in mathematics and science through traditional storytelling.
The Prime Minister stressed the urgent need to conserve water as summer begins, noting that awareness has increased at the community level. He highlighted the Amrit Sarovar campaign, which has created nearly 70,000 water bodies, and praised a recent record-breaking sapling planting initiative in Varanasi. Given the PM's emphasis on self-reliance, collective strength, and infrastructure development like water bodies and sports hubs, the long-term outlook suggests a resilient domestic response to global energy shocks. However, as the geopolitical conflict in West Asia continues to threaten global supply chains, the nation's ability to maintain stability will likely depend on continued diplomatic engagement and the sustained adoption of the lifestyle changes advocated for public health and environmental sustainability.
