Over a decade of transformative governance under PM Modi has reshaped India’s infrastructure, economy, and global standing, laying the foundation for a developed nation.
In the twelve years since assuming office, the central government under PM Narendra Modi has completed a tenure dedicated entirely to trust, development, and public welfare. This era, characterized by the motto ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’, has overseen unprecedented growth across India’s development, security, economic empowerment, and global prestige sectors.
Prior to 2014, the nation was described as being burdened by a legacy of uncertainty, corruption, and weak leadership left by the previous Congress administration. The new government redefined politics, moving away from the view of it as a tool to protect dynastic legacies toward a mission of ‘Nation Above Family’ and ‘Service Above Power’. This strategic shift has given Bharat a new identity rooted in self-confidence and good governance, transforming the country’s image from merely a regional power to one of the greatest powers of the 21st century.
The transformation was driven by a process beginning with ‘Collective Thinking’ in 2014, which evolved into ‘Collective Resolve’ through public trust, and ultimately materialized as a ‘Collective Dream’ in the form of a Viksit Bharat. This great change started with an unprecedented revolution in infrastructure, addressing a previous shortage of basic facilities. The tangible results on the ground are significant: more than 12 crore toilets have been constructed, 100% electrification of the nation has been achieved, the expressway network has grown seven times, and the number of airports has risen from 74 to 165.
This infrastructural leap is viewed as a testament to the nation's liberation from a colonial mindset and the beginning of true decolonisation. This cultural resurgence is further evidenced by the renaming of historic landmarks to Lok Kalyan Marg, Kartavya Path, and Seva Teerth. The economic landscape has also shifted dramatically, with the country moving from relying on ‘man power’ to becoming a ‘manufacturing power’. With more than 2 lakh startups and over 125 unicorns, the youth are increasingly becoming ‘job givers’ rather than ‘job seekers’.
Socially, the nation has witnessed a transition from ‘women development’ to ‘women-led development’. This is reflected in the emergence of more than 3 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and a fourfold increase in women officers within security forces, highlighting the self-reliance of Nari Shakti. Welfare for the poor has seen foundational support through 25 crore people being brought above the poverty line, the construction of four crore permanent houses, an Ayushman shield for over 44 crore citizens, and collateral-free loans worth Rs 40 lakh crore under the PM Mudra Yojana.
Technologically, India has become a global leader in digital finance. Driven by the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile trinity and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India now records an incredible Rs 314 lakh crore in annual digital transactions, commanding a 49% share of global digital payments. This technological prowess complements strategic priorities given to border development, where areas once considered the country’s ‘last villages’ have now taken center stage as India’s ‘first villages’.
Beyond infrastructure and economics, the period has marked a profound cultural awakening. After a wait of 500 years, the construction of the Ram temple and the restoration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Mahakal Mahalok have reawakened a civilisational consciousness tied to cultural nationalism. These efforts, combined with the government’s approach, have not only strengthened the country internally but have also rapidly positioned India as a superpower on the global stage.
The international recognition of this leadership is evident in the fact that PM Narendra Modi has received the highest civilian honour from 32 countries. This global acknowledgment is described as an honour not just to the individual, but to eternal Indian thought and the endeavour of 140 crore countrymen. The era stands as a clear departure from the previous political climate, establishing a new paradigm of self-reliant governance and global integration.
The cumulative effect of these policies is a nation that is continuously growing stronger internally while asserting its influence globally. The shift in focus from dynastic politics to service-oriented governance has created a stable platform for long-term development. As India continues to leverage its digital payments ecosystem and startup culture, the trajectory points toward sustained economic empowerment and social inclusion.
The emphasis on border development and the elevation of remote villages suggests a future where geographic disparity is minimized, and national security is reinforced through inclusive growth. The revival of cultural landmarks indicates that future policies will likely continue to blend economic progress with cultural preservation, aiming for a holistic development model.
As the government moves forward, the challenge will be to sustain the momentum of ‘Collective Resolve’ into the next phase of nation-building. The existing foundation of digital infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, and social welfare schemes provides a robust framework for future expansion. The global standing achieved so far suggests that India will likely continue to play a pivotal role in international affairs, driven by the principles of good governance and self-confidence established over the last twelve years. The journey from ‘Sankalp’ to ‘Siddhi’ has laid the groundwork for a Viksit Bharat that is not only economically robust but also culturally vibrant and globally respected.
The consolidation of digital payments, manufacturing growth, and cultural nationalism suggests a future where India leads in global tech and cultural influence. Continued investment in infrastructure and border development will likely solidify its status as a 21st-century superpower, ensuring sustained prosperity for its citizens.
