The CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation portal resumes operations on June 1. This delay addresses technical glitches and ensures a transparent, glitch-free verification process for students.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced that the designated online platform for the CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation process will become operational again starting June 1, 2026. This decision aims to establish a transparent and glitch-free environment for students seeking verification of their answer papers.
The delay was necessitated by significant technical difficulties encountered when the portal initially launched on May 19, 2026. Following reports of heavy traffic and system crashes, the board has taken steps to rectify these issues before reopening access to applicants.
In response to mounting complaints regarding marking discrepancies and system failures, a specialized team comprising experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and IIT Kanpur has been deployed. According to V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, this four-member team is conducting a comprehensive "full check-up" of the board's IT infrastructure. They are tasked with submitting a confidential report to the board to address the underlying technical faults that have plagued the evaluation process.
The criticism directed at the CBSE intensified after numerous Class 12 students reported that their seemingly correct answers were marked incorrectly in the initial releases of scanned answer scripts. Students and their parents voiced significant frustration over the difficulties faced during the re-evaluation application process. The board has previously rejected claims that its Onscreen Marking System (OSM) was compromised, but the ongoing technical struggles have drawn widespread attention.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the controversy on May 28, 2026, acknowledging the flaws in the newly implemented digital marking protocol. "This was the first time CBSE used [the OSM process], and some discrepancies have come to light," the Minister stated. He took personal responsibility for the errors, assuring the public that solutions are being found and that no student's query would be left unaddressed.
Official figures from the Education Ministry confirm that 98 lakh answer books were scanned and evaluated digitally through the new system. As of May 26, the CBSE reported receiving 4,04,319 applications from students requesting access to their scanned answer book copies. These applications have resulted in a total request for 11,31,961 answer books. The board has stated that it has already furnished up to 8,98,214 answer books digitally to those who applied.
To support students who may have ongoing queries regarding their results or the evaluation process, the CBSE has established dedicated communication channels. Students are encouraged to reach out to the CBSE Tele-Counseling Helpline at 1800 11 8004 or via email at resultcbse2026@cbseshiksha.in. The board's statement emphasized its commitment to resolving these issues efficiently.
The announcement regarding the reopening of the Post-Result Activities portal comes as a critical step toward restoring trust in the board's examination processes. The initial launch on May 19 was marred by severe technical glitches, causing the system to slip into maintenance modes and leaving many students unable to access their records. By delaying the operational start until June 1, the CBSE hopes to implement the necessary fixes recommended by the IIT experts.
The integration of the Onscreen Marking System marked a significant shift in the board's examination methodology. While intended to modernize the evaluation process, the first-time use of this technology has exposed vulnerabilities. The presence of experts from premier institutions like IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur indicates a high-level intervention to stabilize the IT ecosystem. Their confidential report will likely dictate further technical adjustments or protocol changes in the digital evaluation workflow.
For the students affected by the delays, the extended timeline offers a brief reprieve but also highlights the complexity of managing large-scale digital assessments. With nearly 4 lakh applications already submitted, the system will face immense pressure once it goes live. The board's assurance of a "glitch-free process" is contingent on the successful resolution of the technical bugs identified by the external team.
As the June 1 deadline approaches, the focus remains on ensuring that the portal can handle the volume of requests without crashing. The transparency of the re-evaluation process is paramount, and the board's recent statements reflect an urgent need to rectify the discrepancies that have caused distress among students and parents. The ongoing collaboration between the CBSE and the IIT experts suggests a serious commitment to resolving these systemic issues rather than merely treating them as superficial glitches.
The CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation portal will resume operations on June 1, aiming to stabilize the digital evaluation infrastructure following widespread technical failures. By integrating expert oversight from IIT Madras and Kanpur, the board seeks to eliminate the discrepancies and glitches that have plagued the initial launch. This move is critical for maintaining public trust in the board's examination integrity. Future assessments may see stricter IT stress-testing protocols to prevent similar disruptions. If the portal stabilizes as promised, it could set a precedent for digital transparency in national examinations. However, ongoing monitoring will be essential to ensure that the technical fixes hold under the pressure of high student traffic and prevent further distress for the affected cohort.
